February 2012 in a post
Happy Day-After-Leap-Year Day! Again, it never ceases to amaze me how time just seems to fly by, also considering how some days it never seems to end!
February was another whirlwind of a month. I’m actually hoping that over the next couple months will be a little kinder. :)
Our not so little kittens, Daisy and Goomba, are still growing! They still have 2 more months of kittenhood, but they’re already starting to look like full fledged cats. I remember when I could fit both of them with one hand ;_;

There was also Project Storm: Surge too! Sean and I didn’t compete in anything, but we still came to hangout and support. Big thanks to Tyger for putting together another great event!

During Storm weekend too, we tried out a place here in Orlando called 4Rivers. The food and desserts were good, but they were definitely something to have only once in a while!

I also got myself a cycling shoes too! Sean got me pedals for Christmas, and now I can finally use them together. I’m still getting used to biking clipped though.

For Valentine’s Day, Sean gave me a beautiful bouquet of pink and white roses, which is my favorite color combo for flowers. <3

I tried to give him a bouquet of garlic bread. (HE requested it!) It came out ugly looking, but it still tasted right =P

Also, it seems to have taken forever, but I finally(!) full combo’d this one song I really like in Pump It Up: Pro 2 called Closer to Heaven. I know it’s not the most impressive score percentage-wise, but I was really going for not losing my combo!

Sean and I also became sorcerer’s of the magic kingdom. Now, every time we go to MK we must fight Hades and other villains. As well as collect more cards.

I also did get a haircut this month too, before my hair reached the point of no return! I like how I can flip it out for a fun look, while keeping it straight/down during times I’m at work.

Sean and I also ran the Tangled 5K as Lilo and Stitch, and did it with a group of our friends ^_^

We also went mini golfing for the first time on Disney property! We went to Winter Summerland and had a blast!

And finally, I ended the month running the Princess Half Marathon as Russel from Up!

I hope everyone had a great February! Here’s to March, and also hoping that it’ll be a little bit more … uh … event-free, heh.
How’s your year going so far?
The Kitty Kart
Very, very rarely do I have written on my training plan to do a walk. But since I am in recovery week from my marathon season as a whole, it was essentially my Rx.
The kittens are now a bit older (7 months), and with Sean’s permission I finally took them out for a cat walk in the Kitty Kart (read: pet stroller). It’s something I feel like I’ve been waiting a really long time to do with them! Before I’d go out with Mochi as well with the Kitty Kart for walks, and that’s been something I’ve been wanting to share with the kittens.

Daisy and Goomba were a little scared at first, though. It took them about 10 minutes of light mew-ing QQ’s until they found out all the awesome things they could see, such as squirrels and birds and such.

The walk was pretty easy just so that I could get my legs moving. My left calf has been my big problem muscle now that my marathon season is over, and slowly I’ve been getting my full range of motion on that with it healing. I walked nearly 1.5 miles within those 30 minutes while taking out kittens out on a weekday stroll :3
We changed up dinner last night where we opened up a jar of tikka masala that I had picked up at Whole Foods about a week ago. Sean and I aren’t big fans of Indian food, but that’s with the sole exception of tikka masala! Back when we lived in Kansas City, Sean, Chris (Thundercookies), Becky, Jeremiah, and I would frequent this one Indian food restaurant a bit more than we should have just to eat chicken tikka masala.
Since we’ve moved back to Florida, we still have yet to find a restaurant (or jar) of tikka masala that would be just like that one place in Kansas. This Seeds of Change brand was a new one for us to try in our quest for such tikka masala, but it fell short — not to say that it wasn’t delicious though!

Cooking tikka masala with these jars are incredibly simple. All I ended up having to do was add chicken and vegetables to it and let it simmer while the brown rice was cooking.

The end product of our cooked meal - chicken tikka masala with brown rice! Mmm… :D There were also no left overs of the tikka masala either, haha.

This weekend is going to be a nice break for two days, which I’ve been needing badly. While the past few months have a lot of fun, I haven’t exactly had a weekend “off” since Thanksgiving with every weekend being booked with either travel, races, or working overtime.
Happy Friday!
January 2012 in a post
January was such a fun and busy month - man, how time flies!
We started off the year celebrating it Epcot with our wacky group of friends. It couldn’t have started off any better!

Also, in what’s trivial to most, but important to me - I got my promise ring that I got from Sean for Christmas resized. It was initially a size 8, and the instructions were that it could only be sized up or down by 1. But for it to fit, I had to get sized down to a 6. Unfortunately it’s still not quite as snug, but the jeweler said that if it was sized down anymore we risk the diamonds falling out, but the difference isn’t by much - I’m roughly a 5.5-5.75.

Sean’s family also came down for WDW Marathon Weekend and we all mucked about together doing the Fiesta 5K. It made for some crazy and silly times!

I also ran around all of Disney World as part of the Goofy Challenge, which involved running a half marathon (13.1 miles) Saturday and a marathon (26.2 miles) Sunday. This was the second time I’ve done Goofy, and it was just as memorable as ever!

I finally broke through the 2 hour barrier for the half distance that’s been annoying me since I even started endurance running. It was all thanks to my lucky duck!

I eventually PR’d the marathon as well, and completed the Goofy Challenge with a half marathon time of 1:55 and a full marathon time or 4:15!

I became a guest blogger for Ben Greenfield Fitness on Google+. Ben’s one of the top fitness experts in the nation, so to be able to provide health, wellness, and fitness advice to his audience is a little bit of an honor for me.

The following week or so I also went on my first long endurance ride with my tri team biking from UCF to Christmas. The longest I’ve biked prior was about 20 miles on my own, but I pushed it to about 35 with them. :)

The kittens have also been as silly as ever! Daisy enjoys Cat TV (read: window) while I relax.

They’re also still as clingy as can be! Daisy and Goomba like to take turns for cat laps with Sean, haha.

I also entered the Art of Revelry contest hosted by League of Legends. I’ll post the final version of the entry after the contest period is over, but below is one of my early work-in-progress (WIP) shots. It ended up with a Disney-er look than I expected, but that’s alright. I guess I’ve been that heavily influenced by WDW Marathon Weekend, heh. (Also, looking at that WIP shot again… sigh.. thank goodness I fixed all the stuff that’s wrong with that image regarding proportions and positions and such.)

I did have some issue balancing time with working on that art entry with the fact I also had to prepare and travel for the last marathon of my season - ING Miami. But, I have no regrets there! I rocked the streets of downtown Miami with 22,000 of my other runner friends. :)

Lastly, I was able to push myself to level 21 in League of Legends by the end of the month, haha!

Overall, it’s been a good month — busy, crazy, and all sorts of fun. :)
2012 is gearing up to be a great year!
