About

Hello, I’m Charlene :) I work as a full-time engineer during the day, and I usually spend my free time being active, gaming, and making art/music. You’ll find that I also tend to blog about these seemingly varied topics too - what they all have in common is that it’s what makes me!

I wasn’t always in the best shape and for the most part I was just average. While I’ve always maintained a very average level of fitness, there was just … something … that snapped in my head during my last year in college and gained more than 50 pounds and topped the scale at over 200 pounds on my 5’8” frame.

Ironically, experiencing being in the WORST shape of my life helped me to continually work on becoming the best shape I can be for my health and well-being. I got myself back to a healthy weight and have kept myself pretty active through weight training and cardio, and it was through that where I found my passion for endurance sports. I completed my first marathon in 2010 and have done a variety of races as well — my favorites, of course, being Disney!!!

Right now I am preparing for my first half Ironman in 2012 and my first full Ironman in 2013.

I started this blog because I want to give back what I’ve learned from my own journey, and show people that healthy living can be achieved from the most ordinary of people. (I completely understand the troubles of having working a 40-50 hour/week desk job, wanting spend time to level up in a game, having to deal with student loans, and all those trivial and not-so-trivial things!) I hope that me sharing bits of how I balance living healthy and active with all my other commitments inspires you into knowing that it can be done.
